When Mark and his wife welcomed their baby girl into the world, they made the decision to improve the world for not only their daughter, but for her entire generation. They realised while society has come so far, there is still further to go.
They imagined a world where all diseases could be cured, treated or managed within their daughter’s lifetime. A world where there is equal opportunity, and education for all.
And so, the Chan Zuckerberg initiative was founded. With great power comes great responsibility, and so Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg made the decision to actively change the world, by unlocking the gifts of every person around the world.
“My family immigrated here as Chinese Vietnamese refugees. And my grandmother was not literate, she was never taught. So my life is an incredible anomaly – to go to Harvard, become a paediatrician and serve others. The series of events required a lot of love, compassion and luck. And I know so many more kids that are just as qualified, but don’t get lucky, and that is devastating because luck shouldn’t be a factor in whether or not you succeed, luck is not a national strategy. We need to build strategies that take the luck out of the equation for so many deserving children” – Priscilla Chan.
Facebook isn’t just a social media site anymore, it’s a platform that can reach educators all across the world, arming them with the best tools possible to get the most out of the next generation. When you invest in Positive Impact, you’re not only investing in companies, you’re investing in the next generation of game changers.
